First 5 Santa Barbara County funds programs and partnerships that support the healthy development of children prenatal through age 5 and their families. The Commission invests in programs and activities that are consistent with priorities identified in our strategic plan.
Funding opportunities available to the community include:
- Co-sponsorships: For local events and activities that reach families and/or professional providers
- Child Care Funding: This includes scholarships, grants and stipends for early care and education providers and programs
The following are currently not available:
- County-Wide Service Grants: Targeted funding for the Commission’s priority County-Wide Services, typically multi-year
- Community Collaborative Grants: The intent of the Community Collaborative funding is to use the growing body of evidence on effective practices to develop neighborhood or community-based efforts to create commitment and coordinated services focused on school readiness for all children and families in the community.
- Phase I: Planning Grant
- Phase II: Implementation Grant
- One-Year Grants: Short-term grants for emerging needs and capacity building
