Commission

Our nine commissioners and 4 commissioner alternates were appointed by members of the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors. The Commission includes representatives from the Board of Supervisors, County departments and private organizations that serve children and families. Commissioners serve two-year terms and can be re-appointed by the Board of Supervisors. To learn more about who we are, see our roster of current commissioners.

We meet on the 3rd Monday of each month at 9:00 am. All meetings are open to the public and agendas are posted 72 hours in advance. Please check our calendar for all updated meeting information and click on Upcoming Meetings and Archives to see upcoming and past meeting agendas, minutes and additional materials.

We are committed to involving community members as well as professionals working with young children and their families in the work of First 5 Santa Barbara County. If you are interested in becoming a commissioner, see, “How to become a commissioner.”
